The Swiss government has started the consultation on introducing mandatory climate reporting for large Swiss firms. In line with emerging global and European standards (ISSB & EFRAG), human and machine readable structured data (i.e. XBRL) will play a key role in this novel reporting domain.

Join us for this event to discuss the implications for the reporting value chain, from regulator and standard setter to the end user.

The panel discussion (in English) will be followed by the AGM for XBRL CH members present, and networking drinks for all guests.

Christoph Baumann

STATE SECRETARIAT FOR INTERNATIONAL FINANCE (SIF)

Christoph Baumann is heading the taskforce on sustainable finance at the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF). In this role, he leads the Swiss government's sustainable finance activities, ranging from representations in international organisations to the management of domestic regulatory projects. Before joining SIF, he worked in executive positions at financial institutions and fintechs. He studied economics in Zurich, international law in London, and is both a CFA and FRM charterholder.

Eric Darbellay

NESTLÉ

Eric Darbellay, Swiss chartered accountant, is Financial Consolidation Analyst at Nestlé. In this role, he is responsible for the coordination of the establishment of the Nestlé IFRS Group Financial Statements. For Nestlé subsidiaries issuing bonds in the European market, he is responsible for monitoring the reporting of financial reports in compliance with the EU transparency obligations (XBRL among others). In addition, he is one of the Finance members of the Non-financial reporting working group regarding the implementation of ESG information into Nestlé annual report. Before joining Nestlé in 2009, Eric Darbellay was Audit Senior Manager in a Big4.

Jacob Gertel

FINANCIAL INFORMATION, SIX

Jacob Gertel is Senior Content Manager for Legal & Compliance Data at SIX. In this role, he is responsible for the analysis and implementation of data and products in the areas of tax, regulation and compliance, such as FATCA, Section 871(m), Financial Transaction Tax (FTT), MiFID II, FinSA, ESG, etc.
Before joining SIX in 2011, Jacob Gertel headed the compliance department and acted as Compliance Manager at various international banks in Switzerland.

Florian Esterer, CFA

Florian joined Bank J. Safra Sarasin in 2013. Currently, he is Head Core Equities, leading a team of portfolio managers and analysts which manages all regional and discretionary equity investment strategies of the bank. He started his career in asset management in 2002 and worked at Swisscanto and MainFirst Asset Management as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head Global Equities. Before that, he worked as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, led two European technology start-ups, and was a venture capitalist in Switzerland. Florian studied in Fribourg and Washington, DC, where he completed his MBA in 1996. He is a CFA charterholder, and is member of the IFRS Capital Markets Advisory Comittee.

Liv A. Watson

SENIOR ADVISOR AND DIGITISATION LEAD,
THE CAPITALS COALITION ON SECONDMENT FROM ADVISEERS, SAS

As the co-founder of XBRL and the XBRL International consortium, Liv works globally with leading market regulators, accounting associations, and institutions.
Liv is leading the Capitals Coalition facilitation on digitization. She also recently chaired IMP’s Non-financial Digital Transformation Working Group, an initiative aiming to determine if and how non-financial reporting lends itself to structured data using the open international standard for digital business reporting, XBRL.
Liv recently served as the Project Taskforce Lead of EFRAG's Format Taskforce for Preparatory work for the elaboration of possible EU non-financial reporting standards.

Peter Burkhalter

SWISSCOM

Peter Burkhalter is Head Accounting at Swisscom. He is responsible for the accounting and reporting standards and policies and the external financial reporting of Swisscom. He is a key link between the group's management, Audit Committee and external auditors. Furthermore, he is actively involved in a recently launched corporate ESG reporting project (SASB, nonfinancial reporting, climate-related information/TCFD, CSRD/taxonomy, sustainability reporting standards). Peter is a Swiss Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Expert in Financial and Managerial Accounting and Reporting.

Moderation

Christian Dreyer, CFA, is strongly interested in the epistemology of markets in his activities as independent analyst and investor. Earlier professional stations included CFA Society Switzerland, JP Morgan, and Basler Kantonalbank. He volunteered for a range of different organisations, including the IASB as inaugural chair of the Capital Markets Advisory Committee (CMAC) and the Taxonomy Advisory Group. He was founding president of XBRL Switzerland and currently acts as a board member. In addition to the CFA designation, he holds an MA from University of St. Gallen HSG and an LL.M. from Edinburgh University.
